John Mateyko is a distinguished graduate of Augustana College, class of '98. After completing his studies, he embarked on a successful career in the financial sector, starting at Dean Witter in 1999 in the bustling city of New York. Over the years, he has honed his expertise as a Financial Advisor, working with renowned institutions such as Atlas Securities, US Bancorp, Chase, and Fifth Third Securities.

In 2010, John established IDEX Financial, setting up headquarters in the prestigious Zurich Towers of Schaumburg, IL. The firm's remarkable growth led to its expansion into Atlanta, Georgia, where they acquired a prominent financial planning practice in 2018.

John is currently pursuing the prestigious CIMA certification through the esteemed Yale School of Management. He has also earned accolades from the American College of Financial Planning, receiving the RICP® and the WMCP™ designations, as well as the APMA® from the College For Financial Planning.

When he's not immersed in the world of finance, John finds solace in the picturesque community of Serenbe in rural Georgia. This charming locale, featured on the Today Show, captivated his heart. In 2021, he took the initiative to establish the Serenbe Athletic Association, assuming the role of Commissioner for the co-ed leagues of Chicago-style Softball and Kickball. Furthermore, he dedicated his time to coaching youth basketball for Schiller Park, IL from 2008-2013, and later became involved in youth sports in Serenbe from 2020-2021.

John's passion for the arts is equally remarkable. He had the extraordinary opportunity to serve as Christian Bale's part-time stand-in on the movie sets of Batman Begins (‘05) and Public Enemies (‘09). Inspired by his love for theater and his commitment to philanthropy, he founded the SMZ Community Theater Group. This endeavor aims to raise funds for Acton Academy in Serenbe, and to date, they have successfully generated $451,000. Through the playhouse, John has taken on the roles of producer and director, notably bringing The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge ('21) to life and currently preparing for It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play (coming in Dec '23).

John and his wife Slavyana got engaged at Germany's Neuschwanstein Castle. They honeymooned along the stunning Amalfi Coast, and visited Rome and Lake Como. They try to visit Europe every year or two, and their son Sasha enjoys summer camp at TASIS in Lugano, Switzerland.

Embracing an active lifestyle, John is an avid outdoor sportsman. His adventures have taken him scuba diving in breathtaking locations such as the Philippines, Hawaii, Mexico, Costa Rica, Italy, Portugal, and even the awe-inspiring whale shark exhibit at the Georgia Aquarium. He has also achieved notable accomplishments, including winning the Midwinters San Francisco Bay Race as part of the foredeck crew on the Beneteau 50 and conquering the exhilarating bike ride down the Haleakala volcano in Maui.
